Living Close to God (When You’re not Good at It) is an attempt to help those of us who struggle feeling God’s presence throughout the day be able to feel close to God. It seems like this is a struggle most followers of Jesus have. Edwards provides practical tips on developing a close relationship with God.

Edwards tips are simple: meditating and memorizing Scripture, singing hymns, leaving notes in places like your bed stand and car to remind you to take a  minute to pray. He had good advice, but nothing compelled me to do it (and admittedly, the author bio on the book came off a little “cocky” so I may have been swayed a little by that). To me living close to God is largely a matter of your own will power (and turning it over to God’s will). If you desire to live close to Him, you’ll do so. And maybe Edwards’ advice will help. It’s worth a try.
